Will YouTube demonetize AI-generated faceless videos?
What YouTube's policies say about AI-made videos, what actually gets channels in trouble, and what to do to stay clear of it.
Using AI to make a video does not, by itself, make it ineligible for monetisation. YouTube's rules are about what the video is, not which tools were used. The risk is content that looks mass-produced or adds nothing original. This is general information, not legal advice: read YouTube's current policies yourself, as they change.
What YouTube is actually checking for
YouTube's monetisation policy for "inauthentic content" targets mass-produced or repetitive material: the same template with swapped words, slideshows with a robotic voice and no original value, or videos made at a volume that suggests no one is making creative decisions. The question is whether a viewer would see the video as original and worth watching.
What helps a video clearly pass
A real point of view and a script written for the topic, not recycled from another source. Accurate, checked facts. Pictures that match what is being said and change as it does. A narration and edit that is clearly crafted rather than a loop. A clear channel identity that makes the videos recognisably yours.
A review step helps too: someone looking at the finished storyboard and choosing what stays is the kind of creative decision the policy is asking about.
Disclosure
YouTube asks creators to disclose when a video contains realistic altered or synthetic content. Uploads made by Tellavid are marked as containing synthetic media for this reason. Videos about real events that use real photos should credit them where the licence requires it.
What to avoid
Publishing dozens of near-identical videos a week. Copying another creator's script. Presenting invented details as fact. Using copyrighted music or footage you do not have rights to. Any of these is a problem with or without AI.
